About this scholarship

Description/Applicant information

The Office of Research and Development has a PhD scholarship available for Honours/MSc students with knowledge and skills in cellular/molecular biology and pharmacology.

This project is suitable for students with keen interest in cancer research. The high morbidity and mortality in many types of human cancer is often attributed to cancer cells that are refractory to conventional therapies, and thus clonally develop into recurrent tumours. The aims of this project is to understand the etiology of drug resistance in tumours, and to develop strategic sensitizing therapies and predictive biomarkers for refractory cancers. The ultimate goal is to reduce number of cancer recurrences and improve outcome of therapy.
