The Curtin Staff Funded Scholarship is available to assist students from a low socio-economic background and experiencing financial hardship. Funding for this scholarship has been made available by Curtin Staff. The grant is available to all students who are enrolled in an undergraduate course at Curtin University in 2018.

The Curtin Staff Funded Scholarship will provide the following support for up to one year (based on a full-time study load of 100 credits per semester):  

  • A total value of up to $5,000 paid as a cash stipend of $2,500 per semester. The amount can be used at the recipient’s discretion to contribute towards educational related expenses



Eligibility criteria

Applicants must meet ALL of the following criteria to be considered for a Curtin Staff Funded Scholarship:

  • Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, the holder of an Australian permanent humanitarian visa or New Zealand citizen
  • Enrolled full time or part time in an undergraduate course at Curtin University as at the scholarship closing date
  • Enrolled as an internal student at the Bentley Campus
  • Minimum course weighted average (CWA) of 50 or above (only applicable to current Curtin students who are applying for this scholarship)
  • From a low socio-economic background (ascertained from answers on application form)
  • Demonstrate financial hardship
  • Not in receipt of any other scholarships
  • Willingnes to participate in one or more of the following:
    • Provide a testimonial to be used online to promote Give to Change to Curtin staff
    • Have a photograph taken, to accompany the testimonial mentioned above
    • Feature in a short promotional video for Give to Change to encourage staff to support the program and/or thank staff for supporting the program
    • Provide statements to local media if a press release is developed to promote the program.


Conditions that need to be met to keep your scholarship

Unless there are exceptional circumstances such as, but not limited, to medical or family reasons, students must meet ALL of the following:

  • Remain enrolled in initial course of study at Curtin University


Changes to enrolment

If a recipient intends to do any of the following they must also apply in writing to the Scholarships Office ( for approval BEFORE the change. The Scholarships Office will advise how the change will affect their scholarship.

  • Change of course
  • Leave of absence (If approved the maximum period of leave is 12 months)

Withdrawal or Terminated from units or course: A recipient who withdraws from their units or course of study, or has been terminated from studies will become ineligible for continuation of the scholarship, will not receive any further payments and will be required to repay to Curtin University the stipend awarded for that study period if applicable.

How to apply

Application process

Step 1: Apply

  • Application form can be accessed via ‘My Studies’ tab in OASIS or via the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page

Step 2: Complete

  • Complete the application form online
  • Application form can be saved at any point of the process
  • Multiple scholarships can be applied for at one time
  • Tips on how to complete your application can be found under the ‘Application Advice’ tab on the scholarships website

Step 3: Submit

  • Closing date listed at top of page and within scholarships channel on OASIS
  • Incomplete applications will not be assessed
  • Once submitted, application status will change to submitted

Step 4: Receipt

  • Application receipt will be sent to student email once application has been submitted

Step 5: Assessment

  • Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
    • Responses to questions in application form
    • Financial Hardship

Step 6: Outcome

  • Successful and unsuccessful applicants notified of outcome via Scholarhsip Channel (Student OASIS) within approx. 6-8 weeks of scholarship closing date

Step 7: Acceptance

  • Successful applicants must accept the terms and conditions via Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS) by deadline

Please note:

  • Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient need
  • Scholarship will commence from first semester of study for which the scholarship was awarded
  • Scholarship is not transferrable to another major, course or university

Students may apply for as many scholarships as they are eligible for however, will only be awarded up to one Curtin funded continuing scholarship.  A continuing scholarship is defined as a scholarship that has more than two payments.  A Curtin funded scholarship is a scholarship that is solely funded by Curtin.
