About this scholarship
The Scholarships Office aims to encourage students who are experiencing financial hardship, come from a disadvantaged background and/or identify as being in an equity group by providing this one application to assess and inform students of any or all equity based scholarships they may be eligible for. It is the gateway for students in need to apply for all equity based scholarships at Curtin University.

This scholarship provides a single gateway for students in need to apply for all equity base scholarships currently on offer at Curtin.
There are many scholarships available in 2024 - some provide one-off payments, others may provide continuing support. You will be assessed and considered for all scholarships that you may be eligible.

If you are successful in more than on scholarship, you will be awarded the highest value scholarship. In some cases, you may have the opportunity to select your preferred scholarship.
Scholarship Details
All enabling courses, undergraduate (including Honours) and postgraduate coursework degrees at Curtin University
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the Equity Scholarship Program
- Australian or New Zealand Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or Australian Permanent Humanitarian Visa holder
- Enrolled in a full-time or part-time in an enabling, undergraduate degree (including Honours) or postgraduate coursework degree at Curtin University in semester 1, 2024
- Have a Minimum Course Weighted Average (CWA) of 50 (if applicable)
- Experiencing financial hardship, come from a disadvantaged background and/or identify as being in an equity group
NOTE:
- OUA students are eligible to apply, however they must be enrolled in a full award course at Curtin University. Students enrolled in units (non-award) through OUA are not eligible to apply.
Application process
Step 1: Access application form
- Application form can be accessed via the ‘My Studies’ tab in OASIS or via the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page
- If you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student and would like to be considered for all other scholarships (both equity as well as merit scholarships) available in this round, we recommend that you apply for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship Program here (only one application form to complete).
Step 2: Complete
- Complete the application form online
- Application form can be saved at any point of the process
- You will be considered for all equity scholarships (need base) that you meet the eligibility criteria for
- Tips on how to complete your application can be found on the ‘Applying for scholarships’ link on the scholarships website
Step 3: Submit
- Closing date is listed at the top of the page and within the Scholarships Channel on OASIS
- Incomplete applications will not be assessed
- Once submitted, application status will change to submitted
Step 4: Receipt
- Application receipt will be sent to student email once application has been submitted
Step 5: Assessment
- Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
- Responses to questions in application form
- Financial need
- Socioeconomic / disadvantaged background
- Any other factors that may affect your finance and/or ability to study
- If you are eligible for some particular scholarships, the Scholarships Office may ask you to supply further information or supporting documents
- If you are eligible for a particular scholarship with an interview component, the Scholarships Office may contact you regarding the interview:
- Shortlisted applicants will be sent an interview date and time via their student email within 2-3 weeks of the scholarship closing date
- Shortlisted applicants must be available for designated interview time (late March to early April)
Step 6: Outcome
- Outcome will be sent via the Scholarships Channel within 6-8 weeks of the scholarship closing date
- All unsuccessful and successful applicants will be notified
Step 7: Acceptance
- Successful applicants must accept the terms and conditions via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS) by the deadline
Please note:
- Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient need
- Scholarship will commence from the semester of study for which the scholarship was awarded
- Scholarship may not be transferable to another major, course or university
Enrolment Requirements
Recipients must meet all of the following:
- Maintain an enrolment each study period at Curtin University
- Maintain a Course Weighted Average (CWA) of at least 50 each study period
- Fail no more than one unit each study period
- Not be in receipt of any other scholarship from the same funding source

- Additional requirement may apply depending on a scholarship (it will be specified in the scholarship terms and conditions, if applicable)
