2023 HDR Scholarship - Centre for Optimisation and Decision Science HDR Scholarship
Status: Open
Applications open: 8/11/2023
Applications accepted at any time
About this scholarship
Three PhD positions are immediately available at the Centre for Optimisation and Decision Science at Curtin University. The research will focus on developing robust adaptive techniques for solving complex problems in mathematical physics. The specific research areas we will explore are
+ Adaptive scientific deep learning methods for mathematical physics problems governed by partial differential equations (domain decomposition, adaptive quadrature)
+ Finite element methods for complex flows in porous media (generalized multiscale finite elements via autoencoders, adaptive in space and time, splitting methods, and variational flux recovery)
+ Adaptive r-refinement for finite element and scientific deep learning methods (gradient-free adaptation, generalized stochastic gradient descent methods)
Salary for PhD students: is AUD32K per annum, tax free. The scholarships include fee waivers. Don't hesitate to contact Prof. Calo at victor.calo@curtin.edu.au for more details. The application target date is mid-December 2023, but the review will continue until all available positions are filled.
