About this scholarship
The F.C. Swaine Memorial Bursary has been established to provide financial assistance to students under the age of 21, who have completed at least one semester at Curtin University. Students must show a high level of academic achievement, as well as displaying extra-curricular activities such as; sport, community service and cultural awareness.

The F.C. Swaine Memorial Bursary will provide the following support (based on a full-time study load of 100 credits):
- A one-off cash payment of $1,000. The amount can be used at the recipient's discretion to contribute towards educational related expenses.
Scholarship Details
All undergraduate and postgraduate coursework degrees
Double degrees are not considered eligible
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be considered eligible for the F.C. Swaine Memorial Bursary:
- Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, Australian permanent humanitarian or New Zealand citizen
- Enrolled full-time (minimum 75 credits) in an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree in semester 2, 2024 at Curtin University
- Have completed at least one semester of study at the time of application closing date
- Have a minimum course weighted average (CWA) of at least 65
- Experiencing financial hardship
- Involved in extra-curricular activities
- Under 21 years of age as at scholarship closing date
- Not in receipt of any other scholarships that are from the same funding source and/or for the same purpose
Application process
Step 1: Access application form
- Application form can be accessed via the ‘My Studies’ tab in OASIS or via the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page
- Please note that this link will direct you to the general "Equity Scholarship Program" application form. Once you submit your application, you will then be considered for all equity scholarships that you are eligible for in this round.
- If you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student and would like to be considered for all other scholarships (equity and merit scholarships) available in this round, we recommend that you apply for the "Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship Program".
Step 2: Complete
- Complete the application form online
- Application form can be saved at any point of the process

Step 3: Submit
- Closing date is listed at the top of the page and within the Scholarships Channel on OASIS
- Incomplete applications will not be assessed
- Once submitted, application status will change to submitted
Step 4: Receipt
- Application receipt will be sent to student email once application has been submitted
Step 5: Assessment
- Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
- Responses to questions in application form
- Demonstrated financial hardship
- Demonstrated involvement in extra-curricular activities
Step 6: Outcome
- All successful and unsuccessful applicants notified of their outcome via the Scholarships Channel (Student OASIS) within 6-8 weeks of the scholarship closing date
Step 7: Acceptance
- Successful applicants must accept the terms and conditions via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS) by the deadline

- Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient need and merit
Enrolment Requirements
Recipients must meet all of the following:
- Maintain a minimum of 25 credits in an eligible enabling program at Curtin University in semester 2, 2024
- Not be in receipt of any other scholarship from the same funding source and/or for the same purpose
