The Curtin Undergraduate Equity Bursary has been developed by Curtin University to support students who are from socio-economic backgrounds and experiencing financial hardship.

The Curtin Undergraduate Equity Bursary will provide the following support (based on a full-time study load of 100 credits):

• A one-off cash payment managing between $500 - $1,500. The amount can be used at the recipient’s discretion to contribute towards educational related expenses.

• All undergraduate degrees

Double degrees considered

Applicants must meet all the following criteria to be considered eligible for the Curtin Undergraduate Equity Bursary: 

• Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, Australian permanent humanitarian or New Zealand citizen
• Enrolled in a minimum of 25 credits in an eligible degree at Curtin University in semester 2, 2024
• Have a course weighted average (CWA) of at least 50
• From a low socio-economic background
• Experiencing financial hardship

Please note:

• Curtin OUA students are eligible to apply, however must be enrolled in a full award course.
• Students enrolled in single subjects (non-award) through OUA are not eligible to apply.

Step 1: Access application form

• Application form can be accessed via the ‘My Studies’ tab in OASIS or via the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page
• Please note that this link will direct you to the general "Equity Scholarship Program" application form. Once you submit your application, you will then be considered for all equity scholarships you are eligible for in this round.
• If you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student and would like to be considered for all other scholarships (equity and merit scholarships) available in this round, we recommend that you apply for the 'Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship Program'.

Step 2: Complete

• Complete the application form online
• Application form can be saved at any point of the process
• Tips on how to complete your application can be found on the ‘Applying for scholarships’ link on the scholarships website

Step 3: Submit

• Closing date is listed at the top of the page and within the Scholarships Channel on OASIS
• Incomplete applications will not be assessed
• Once submitted, application status will change to submitted

Step 4: Receipt

• Application receipt will be sent to student email once application has been submitted

Step 5: Assessment

• Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
  • Responses to questions in application form
  • Demonstrated financial hardship
  • Socioeconomic background

Step 6: Outcome

• All successful and unsuccessful applicants notified of their outcome via the Scholarships Channel (Student OASIS) within 6-8 weeks of the scholarship closing date

Step 7: Acceptance

• Successful applicants must accept the terms and conditions via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS) by the deadline

• Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient need

Recipients must meet all of the following:

• Maintain a minimum of 25 credits enrollment at Curtin University in semester 2, 2024
• Not be in receipt of any other scholarship from the same funding source and/or for the same purpose
