About this scholarship
The Postgraduate Equity Bursary supports students enrolled in postgraduate coursework studies who are experiencing financial hardship.

The Postgraduate Equity Bursary will provide the following support (based on full-time enrolment of 100 credits):
- A one-off cash stipend payment, ranging between $500 and $1,500. The amount can be used at the recipient's discretion to contribute towards educational related expenses.
Scholarship Details
All postgraduate coursework degrees
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be considerd eligible to apply for the Postgraduate Equity Bursary:
- Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, Australian permanent humanitarian or New Zealand citizen
- Enrolled in a minimum of 25 credits in semester 2, 2024 in a postgraduate coursework degree.
- Have a course weighted average (CWA) of at least 50
- Low socio-economic background and demonstrated financial hardship
Application process
Step 1: Access application form
- Application form can be accessed via the ‘My Studies’ tab in OASIS or via the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page
- Please note that this link will direct you to the general "Equity Scholarship Program" application form. Once you submit your application, you will then be considered for all equity scholarships that you are eligible for in this round.
- If you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student and would like to be considered for all other scholarships (equity and merit scholarships) available in this round, we recommend that you apply for the "Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship Program".
Step 2: Complete
- Complete the application form online
- Application form can be saved at any point of the process

Step 3: Submit
- Closing date is listed at the top of the page and within the Scholarships Channel on OASIS
- Incomplete applications will not be assessed
- Once submitted, application status will change to submitted
Step 4: Receipt
- Application receipt will be sent to student email once application has been submitted
Step 5: Assessment
- Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
- Responses to questions in application form
- Demonstration of financial hardship
- Socio-economic background
Step 6: Outcome
- All successful and unsuccessful applicants notified of their outcome via the Scholarships Channel (Student OASIS) within 6-8 weeks of the scholarship closing date
Step 7: Acceptance
- Successful applicants must accept the terms and conditions via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS) by the deadline
Please note:
- Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient need
Enrolment Requirements
Recipients must meet all of the following:
- Remain enrolled in an eligible postgraduate coursework degree at Curtin University.
- Fail no more than one unit each study period
- Not be in receipt of any other scholarship from the same funding source and/or for the same purpose
