The Fieldwork and Placement Bursary has been developed by Curtin University to encourage and support students who are completing compulsory fieldwork/practicum as a part of their degree.

The Fieldwork and Placement Bursary will provide the following support:

• A one-off cash payment ranging between $500 - $2,000. The amount can be used at the recipient's discretion to contribute towards fieldwork, practicum or placement related expenses.

All fee-paying undergraduate certificates, undergraduate and postgraduate coursework degrees.

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be considered eligible to apply for the Fieldwork and Placement Bursary:

• Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, Australian permanent humanitarian or New Zealand citizen
• Enrolled in at least 25 credits in a fee-paying undergraduate certificates, undergraduate and postgraduate coursework , at Curtin University in semester 2, 2024
• Have a course weighted average (CWA) of at least 50
• Completing compulsory fieldwork, practicum or placement as a part of the course in semester 2, 2024, or completed in semester 1 of 2024, and have not previously received the bursary for the same placement
• Experiencing financial hardship and demonstrated low socioeconomic background

Please note:

• OUA students are eligible to apply, however must be enrolled in a full award course. Students enrolled in single subjects (non-award) are not eligible to apply.
• Students enrolled in OUA are eligible to apply for fieldwork undertaken during semester 1 dates for Study Period 1 and/or Study Period 2

Step 1: Access application form

• Application form can be accessed via the ‘My Studies’ tab in OASIS or via the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page
• Please note that this link will direct you to the general "Equity Scholarship Program" application form. Once you submit your application, you will then be considered for all equity scholarships that you are eligible for in this round.
• If you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student and would like to be considered for all other scholarships (equity and merit scholarships) available in this round, we recommend that you apply for the "Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship Program".

Step 2: Complete

• Complete the application form online
• Application form can be saved at any point of the process
• Tips on how to complete your application can be found on the ‘Applying for scholarships’ link on the scholarships website

Step 3: Submit

• Closing date is listed at the top of the page and within the Scholarships Channel on OASIS
• Incomplete applications will not be assessed
• Once submitted, application status will change to submitted

Step 4: Receipt

• Application receipt will be sent to student email once application has been submitted

Step 5: Assessment

• Applications for the Fieldwork Bursary will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
  • Responses to questions in application form
  • Socioeconomic status
  • Financial situation
  • Details relating to  fieldwork, practicum or placement.

Step 6: Outcome

• All successful and unsuccessful applicants notified of their outcome via the Scholarships Channel (Student OASIS) within 6-8 weeks of the scholarship closing date

Step 7: Acceptance

• Successful applicants must accept the terms and conditions via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS) by the deadline

Please note:

• Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient need

Recipients must meet all of the following:

• Remain enrolled throughout semester 2, 2024
• Completing compulsory fieldwork, practicum or placement as a part of the course in semester 2, 2024, or having already completed in semester 1 of 2024.
• Not be in receipt of any other scholarship from the same funding source and/or for the same purpose
