About this scholarship
The purpose of the Business Innovation Scholarship is to support and encourage students who have an interest in studying in the field of business information systems.
This Scholarship is part of Curtin University’s commitment to innovation and excellence in teaching and research, for the benefit of our students and the wider community. Curtin University is renowned for innovation and academic excellence that ultimately benefits the wider community.
Students applying for this scholarship are required to show insight and creative ideas in relation to their future profession and demonstrate a strong understanding of their chosen course of study.

The scholarship will provide the following support for up to a maximum of 3 years (based on a full-time study load of 100 credits):
- A total value of up to $9,000, paid as an instalment of $1,500 per semester towards the cost of student tuition fees. The amount will be paid directly towards the student fee account prior to the census date.
OR
The scholarship will provide the following support for up to a maximum of 4 years (based on a full-time study load of 100 credits):
- A total value of up to $12,000, paid as an instalment of $1,500 per semester towards the cost of student tuition fees. The amount will be paid directly towards the student fee account prior to the census date.
Please note that the Student Services Amenities Fees (SSAF) will not be covered under the scholarship. These fees will be at the responsibility of the student to cover.
Scholarship Details
Up to 3 years
o Bachelor of Commerce (Business Information Systems)
o Bachelor of Commerce (Business Information Systems Extension)
Note: Any of the above listed degrees as part of a double major/degree may be considered. However, the scholarship benefit is capped at a maximum of three years.
Up to 4 years
o Advanced Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) (Business Information Systems)
o Advanced Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) (Business Information Systems Extension)
Note: Any of the above listed degrees as part of a double major/degree may be considered. However, the scholarship benefit is capped at a maximum of four years.
Applicants must meet all the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the Scholarship:
- Domestic student (Australian or New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident or Permanent Humanitarian visa)
- Selected Curtin University as a first preference through TISC or apply direct to Curtin by the scholarship's closing date to undertake an eligible degree and major in 2025
- Receive an eligible course offer and will enrol full-time (100 credits per study period) in the eligible course at Curtin University in Semester 1, 2025
- Intending to enrol in an eligible major
- Not in receipt of any other scholarships that are from the same funding source or for the same purpose
Application process
Step 1: Access application form
- Applications are to be submitted using the online application form. Access the form by clicking on the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page
- If you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student and would like to be considered for all scholarships (equity and merit) available in this round, we recommend that you apply for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship Program here (only one application form to complete).
Step 2: Complete
- Complete the application form online
- Application form can be saved at any point of the process
- Multiple scholarships can be applied for at one time

Step 3: Submit
- Closing date is listed at the top of the page
- Incomplete applications will not be assessed
- Once submitted, application status will change to submitted
Step 4: Receipt
- Application receipt will be sent to the email address provided when you created your Curtin account, once your application has been submitted
Step 5: Assessment
- Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using one or more of the following criteria:
- Receipt of an offer of a place into an eligible undergraduate degree at Curtin University in 2025
- Responses to questions in application form
- Academic merit
- Demonstrated interest and passion in their field of study
Step 6: Outcome
- Outcome will be sent via the email address listed through TISC or your direct Curtin course application after main round course offers (all successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified)
Step 7: Acceptance
- Successful candidate(s) (including those who wish to defer their studies) accept scholarship by the deadline specified in offer email
- Deferral of this scholarship is permitted (details included in scholarship terms and conditions)
Please note:
- Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient merit
- Scholarship will commence from first semester of study
- Scholarship is not transferable to another courses, major or university
Enrolment Requirements
Recipients must meet all of the following:
- Remain enrolled in an eligible course and major of study
- Maintain a full-time study load of 100 credits each semester at Curtin University
- Maintain a course weighted average (CWA) of at least 70 each semester
- Not apply for or receive any other scholarships that are from the same funding source or for the same purpose
