About this scholarship
The AusIMM Education Endowment Fund Scholarship has been developed by AusIMM to support outstanding undergraduate students studying in mining-related fields, who are determined to reach their potential, develop leadership qualities, expand their knowledge and network in the mining sector.
The Education Endowment Fund (EEF) holds a rich history, dating back to its formal creation and signing of the Trust Deed on February 22 1989. Throughout the years, the EEF and AusIMM has been a driving force behind advancing education and research within the mining industry. Its core aims are firmly rooted in shaping a brighter future for both aspiring students and the mining community as a whole.

The AusIMM Education Endowment Fund Scholarship will provide the following support for the remaining expected duration of the degree (based on full-time study load of 100 credits):
- A cash stipend of $5,500 per semester
- Industry mentor tailored to your talents, aptitude and interests (valued at $5,000)
- 1 week field trip to a mineral rich region in Australia
- Comprehensive support to develop invaluable career building personal and professional skills
The amount can be used at the recipient's discretion to contribute towards educational related expenses.
Scholarship Details
- Any mining-related undergraduate degree
- Students studying disciplines relating to sustainability and indigenous anthropology (and other related areas) are encouraged to apply and demonstrate in their application how their degree is relevant and might be applied by the minerals industry.
- Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident
- Enrolled part-time or full-time in the 2nd year onwards of an eligible degree in semester 2, 2024
- Be an AusIMM Associate membership: Undergraduate Student Membership (use code "Student2024" at checkout to waive application fee)

AusIMM Education Endowment Fund (EEF) Scholarships
The selection of each recipient is completed by a panel from the EEF National Scholarship Committee. The selection panel considers the applicants:
- Academic achievements
- Leadership qualities
- Long term career ambitions
- Extracurricular engagement, industry and community involvement
- Interview performance (for shortlisted applicants)
- Preference will be given to applicants studying an AusIMM recognised undergraduate degree
Shortlisted candidates may be invited to attend an interview with the selection panel as described above.

Enrolment Requirements
Recipients must meet all of the following:
- Maintain a part-time or full-time study load each study period (deferral of the scholarship is allowed for maximum of 1 year)
- Maintain a course weighted average (CWA) of at least 65 each study period
- Pass all units attempted each study period
- Hold and maintain active AusIMM membership during the tenure of the scholarship.
- Participate in the annual field trip held in early to mid-July
