About this scholarship
The Centre for Exploration Geophysics at Curtin University in Perth, Western Australia, offers an exciting PhD research opportunity in the area of active and passive seismic data analysis. The PhD candidate will be involved in the development of new algorithms for processing, analysis and inversion of active and passive seismic data and the application of these algorithms to field data.

This scholarship provides a stipend of $35,000.00 p.a. (tax-free) pro rata indexed, based on full-time studies, for 3 years with a possible extension of up to six months (maximum). The extension is assessed on a case-by-case basis. This scholarship will include a tuition fee offset support for a successful international candidate.

Any HDR student wishing to study in the exploration seismology filed.
The successful candidate must enroll into a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program (full-time study mode).
- The successful candidate must meet the minimum academic entry requirement for admission into the Doctor of Philosophy program https://research.curtin.edu.au/postgraduate/ including the English proficiency levels set by Curtin University.
- The candidate must have Master in geophysics or a related discipline, or equivalent degree.
- Language requirement (IELTS, Overall 6.5, Speaking, Writing, Reading and Listening 6.0 or TOEFL, Overall 79, Reading, 13, Listening 13, Speaking 18, Writing 21).
- Successful recipients must also not be in receipt of any other scholarship.
Students with below skills are encouraged to apply:
- Seismic wave propagation theory; seismic data acquisition and processing; signal processing, seismic imaging, geophysical inversion, scientific programming, reservoir modelling.
- Previous research experience and publications.

Enrolment Requirements
The successful candidate must enrol full-time into the PhD program at Curtin University and must meet their Milestone 1, 2 and 3 requirements.
