About this scholarship

The Curtin On-Campus Accommodation Equity Bursary (the Scholarship) has been established to provide assistance for domestic and international students living in on-campus accommodation at Curtin Kalgoorlie who are experiencing financial hardship.

DISCLAIMER: Receiving this scholarship does not guarantee you a place in on-campus accommodation. Offers will be conditional upon applicants receiving an offer of a place into an eligible on-campus accommodation residence for semester 1, 2025 or an annual agreement in 2025. The Scholarship will provide the following: 

For semester 1, 2025 accommodation agreements:

  • A fortnightly subsidy of $124 will be paid directly to the applicable on campus-accommodation residence for the duration of the one semester contract (up to a maximum of $1,300 per 21 week semester agreement with Agricola). The recipient will not be in direct receipt of the funds.

For full year, 2025 accommodation agreements:

  • A fortnightly subsidy of $124 will be paid directly to the applicable on campus-accommodation residence for the duration of the full year contract (up to a maximum of $2,600 per 42 week annual agreement with Agricola). The recipient will not be in direct receipt of the funds.

Please note:

  • Subsidy payments will commence from the next pay cycle (fortnightly) following the date of scholarship acceptance.
  • The scholarship is applied in fortnightly instalments to subsidise rent and cannot be back dated prior to either residing in the on-campus accommodation residence or prior to the first pay cycle after the date of scholarship acceptance
  • The scholarship is only valid for the length of the accommodation agreement and does not include earlier check ins, extended departures, or summer stays. The scholarship will conclude if the agreement is terminated prior to the departure date.
  • For one semester agreements, the scholarship will not be extended if the on-campus accommodation agreement is extended after scholarship acceptance. Students will need to reapply for the scholarship if it reopens for the following semester.
  • Offers for this scholarship will be made conditional pending confirmation of the recipients on-campus accommodation by the deadline given. Please note that the scholarship subsidy cannot be used to pay any housing deposits or fees other than the weekly rent.
  • Offers are made on a rolling basis until closing date or until funds are exhausted (whichever comes first).

Scholarship Details

All enabling courses, undergraduate certificates, undergraduate degrees, postgraduate coursework degrees and higher degree by research at Curtin University.

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the Scholarship:

  • Domestic or international student
  • Enrolled (minimum 25 credits) in an eligible degree at Curtin in semester 1, 2025
  • Have applied for a place (or currently residing) at Agricola, Curtin Kalgoorlie on-campus accommodation in semester 1, 2025 and/or 2025 annual agreement at the time of application:
  • Have a minimum Course Weighted Average (CWA) of 50 (if applicable) at the time of applying

Domestic Students must also meet the below:

  • Experiencing financial hardship
  • Additional circumstances that may impact your ability to study (e.g. medical/personal circumstances, identify as LGBTQIA+, disability etc)

International Students must also meet the below:

  • Require financial assistance due to a significant change in financial situation since accepting course offer and/or commencing studies at Curtin.

Application process

Step 1: Access application form

  • Application form can be accessed via the ‘My Studies’ tab in OASIS or via the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page

Step 2: Complete

  • Complete the application form online
  • Application form can be saved at any point of the process
  • Tips on how to complete your application can be found on the ‘Applying for scholarships’ link on the scholarships website

Step 3: Submit

  • Closing date is listed at the top of the page
  • Incomplete applications will not be assessed
  • Once submitted, application status will change to submitted

Step 4: Receipt

  • Application receipt will be sent to student email once application has been submitted

Step 5: Assessment

  • Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
    • Responses to questions in application form
    • Domestic students:
      • Socio-economic background
      • Financial situation
      • Additional circumstances that impact ability to study
    • International students:
      • Change in financial situation since commencing

Step 6: Outcome

  • Successful applicants will receive a conditional offer which is provisional upon confirmation of an agreement for Curtin Kalgoorlie on-campus accommodation in semester 1, 2025 and/or an annual agreement with Curtin Kalgoorlie on-campus accommodation
  • All successful and unsuccessful applicants notified of their outcome via the Scholarships Channel (Student OASIS) on a rolling basis from the 2nd of December 2024 onwards.
  • Outcomes will be sent within 4-6 weeks of applying (however may take longer during peak periods).
  • Applications will not be assessed during the Christmas shutdown period between the 23rd of December 2024 and the 3rd of January 2025.
  • Offers will be made until funding is exhausted or until the closing date (whichever is earlier)

Step 7: Acceptance

  • Successful applicants must accept the terms and conditions via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS) by the deadline

Please note:

  • Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient need

Enrolment Requirements

Recipients must meet all of the following:

  • Maintain a minimum enrolment of 25 credits at Curtin University
  • Have a Course Weighted Average (CWA) of at least 50 (if applicable) at the time of applying
  • Not be in receipt of any other scholarship from the same funding source and/or for the same purpose
  • Remain residing in the on-campus accommodation residence for the period that this scholarship has been offered for
