NSW Health Aboriginal Nursing and Midwifery scholarships and cadetships are a pathway to employment in the health sector. They increase the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nurses and midwives and provide financial and educational support from undergraduate to postgraduate studies.

NSW Health Aboriginal Nursing and Midwifery Undergraduate Scholarships of up to $1000 per subject are available for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students undertaking a Bachelor of Nursing or Bachelor of Midwifery. 

NSW Health Aboriginal Enrolled Nurse to Registered Nurse Scholarships of up to $15,000 per year are available to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students employed as an Enrolled Nurse in a NSW Health facility and undertaking a Bachelor of Nursing. 

If you’re an Aboriginal person currently working as a registered nurse or registered midwife employed in a NSW Health facility, a postgraduate scholarship of up to $10,000 is available to support your postgraduate study and help with educational expenses.

Scholarship Details

Must be enrolled in a bachelor of nursing or midwifery degree, or postgraduate nursing and midwifery degree. 

To be eligible to apply you must be: 

- be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent 
- be known and accepted in the community that you live or have lived 
- currently be studying or about to study an undergraduate or postgraduate nursing or midwifery degree at university.

Enrolment Requirements

Scholarship Conditions: 

- It is an expectation that you respond to our e-mails within two weeks of requests.  
- Payments for each subject apply once only. Repeat subjects do not receive additional funding.  
- An enrolment document, and results from the previous semester must be supplied before each semester
