About this scholarship
This scholarship is designed to provide financial support for Curtin Honours and Masters students, who have an interest in completing a Korea-focused humanities of social sciences dissertation topic. Students must be enrolled in a dissertation research unit and be working toward a Korean Studies (or clearly Korea-focused) dissertation on a humanities or social sciences topic. The purpose of this award is to encourage students to consider further research in Korean Studies. The award also encourages students to engage with the Korea Research & Engagement Centre project student peer learning community.
This scholarship is supported by the Core University Program for Korean Studies through the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Korea and Korean Studies Promotion Service of the Academy of Korean Studies (AKS-2022-OLU- 2250005).

The scholarship will provide the following support:
- A one-off cash payment of $5,000. The amount can be used at the recipient's discretion towards educational and travel related expenses
Scholarship Details
Must be enrolled in a Undergraduate Honours Bacherlors Degree or a Masters by Coursework Degree, in the faculty of Humanities.
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the Scholarship:
- Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, Australian permanent humanitarian resisdent, New Zealand citizen or International Student
- Must be studying in either a Humanities Undergraduate Honours Bachelors Degree or a Humanities Masters by Coursework Degree in semester 2, 2025
- Must be enrolled in 100 credits full time at Curtin University
- Must be working torward completing a 15,000 word dissertation on a topic that focuses on Korea/Korean studies in Humanities or Social Sciences topics (Business is counted as a Social Science)

Step 1: Access application form
- Application form can be accessed via the ‘My Studies’ tab in OASIS or via the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page

Step 2: Complete
- Complete the application form online
- Application form can be saved at any point of the process
- Multiple scholarships can be applied for at one time

Step 3: Submit
- Closing date is listed at the top of the page and within the Scholarships Channel (Student OASIS)
- Incomplete applications will not be assessed
- Once submitted, application status will change to submitted
Step 4: Receipt
- Application receipt will be sent to student email once application has been submitted
Step 5: Assessment
- Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
- Responses to questions in application form
- Academic merit
- Non - Academic Achievements (extra curricular involvement and leadership)
- Passion, Knowledge and Vision (relevant to Korean Students and enhancein Korean Studies research)
- Project preference
Step 6: Outcome
- Successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified of their outcome via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS) within 6-8 weeks of closing date
Step 7: Acceptance
- Successful applicants must accept the terms and conditions via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS) by the deadline
Please note:
- Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient merit
Enrolment Requirements
- Maintain an enrolment of 100 credits in semester 2, 2025
