About this scholarship

This highly selective, fully-funded scholarship program based at the distinguished Tsinghua University in Beijing, is designed to ensure the next generation of business, political and civil society leaders around the world can effectively serve as bridges between China and the rest of the world. The scholarship is awarded to 200 students each year (45% US, 20% China, 35% rest of the world) to study Master in Global Affairs in Public Policy, Economics, Business and/or International studies.

The Schwarzman Scholarship is a one-year, fully-funded master’s program at Tsinghua University in Beijing, designed to build a global community of future leaders who will strengthen understanding between China and the rest of the world. Its value includes the below:

  • Tuition Fees fully covered
  • Room and board
  • Travel to and from Beijing at the beginning and end of the academic year
  • An in-country study tour
  • Required course books and supplies
  • Health insurance
  • A stipend of $4,000 for personal expenses
     

Scholarship Details

Candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Have an undergraduate degree or must be on track to successfully complete all degree requirements before August 1 of their Schwarzman Scholars enrollment year. 
  • Be 18-28 years of age
    • Candidates must be at least 18 but not yet 29 years of age as of August 1 of their Schwarzman Scholars enrollment year (for the Class of 2026-2027, as of August 1, 2026).
  • Demonstrate strong English skills, as all teaching will be conducted in English.

Note:Grade point average/class rank/pre-requisites: Academic excellence will be a requirement for successful applicants, but there is no minimum GPA or class rank required to apply. Applicants are expected to have demonstrated excellence in their academic studies, and the most competitive candidates will be among the top students in their graduating class.
