About this scholarship

The Peter Collins Scholarship (Scholarship) was established by Neometals in conjunction with Curtin to support final year Applied Geology students, with preference given to students studying at the Kalgoorlie campus. 

Neometals is commercialising it’s portfolio of sustainable process technologies to recycle and recover critical materials from high-value waste streams. 

The Company collaborates with partners and customers to facilitate sustainable supply chains of critical materials and reduce the environmental burden of traditional mining in the global transition to a circular economy.

The Scholarship will provide the following support for up to a maximum of one year:

  • A total value of $7,500 paid as a cash stipend of $3,750 per semester.

The amount can be used at the recipient's discretion to contribute towards education related expenses.

Scholarship Details

  • Bachelor of Science (Applied Geology)
  • Bachelor of Applied Geology

Double degrees of these courses will be considered. 

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the Scholarship:

  • Domestic student (Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, Australian permanent humanitarian or New Zealand citizen)
  • Enrolled full-time (minimum 75 credits) in the final year of an eligible degree in semester 1, 2025
  • Have a minimum course weighted average (CWA) of 65
  • Not in receipt of any other scholarships that are from the same funding source and/or for the same purpose

Application process

Step 1: Access application form

  • Application form can be accessed via the ‘My Studies’ tab in OASIS or via the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page
  • If you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student and would like to be considered for this scholarship, as well as all equity and merit scholarships, we recommend that you apply for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship Program here (only one application form to complete)

Step 2: Complete

  • Complete the application form online
  • Application form can be saved at any point of the process
  • Multiple scholarships can be applied for at one time
  • Tips on how to complete your application can be found on the ‘Applying for scholarships’ page on the scholarships website

Step 3: Submit

  • Closing date is listed at the top of the page and within the Scholarships Channel on OASIS
  • Incomplete applications will not be assessed
  • Once submitted, application status will change to submitted

Step 4: Receipt

  • Application receipt will be sent to student email once application has been submitted

Step 5: Assessment

  • Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
    • Responses to questions in application form
    • Academic merit
    • Demonstration of active citizenship in the Curtin or Kalgoorlie community, or their program of study
  • Preference will be given to students studying at the Kalgoorlie campus

Step 6: Outcome

  • All successful and unsuccessful applicants notified of their outcome via the Scholarships Channel (Student OASIS) within 9 weeks of the scholarship closing date

Step 7: Acceptance

  • Successful applicants must accept the terms and conditions via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS) by the lapse date

Please note:

  • Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient merit

Enrolment Requirements

Recipients must meet all of the following:

  • Remain enrolled in initial course of study
  • Maintain a full-time enrolment of at least 75 credits per semester at Curtin University
  • Maintain a course weighted average (CWA) of at least 65 each semester
  • Pass all units attempted each semester
  • Not in receipt of any other scholarships that are from the same funding source and/or for the same purpose
