About this scholarship

The NDY Engineering Scholarship (Scholarship) has been developed by Norman Disney & Young in conjunction with Curtin University to provide opportunities for passionate students pursuing a career in engineering consultancy within the building services industry by easing some of the financial pressures associated with study.

The Scholarship will provide the following support for up to one year (based on a full-time enrolment of 100 credits per semester):

  • A total value of up to $5,000 paid as a cash stipend of $2,500 per semester.
  • Possible opportunity for paid internship work with Norman Disney & Young at the Perth CBD office, subject to the availability of suitable project work.

Scholarship Details

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) (Honours)
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic Engineering) (Honours)

Double degrees that contain either of the above courses/major are eligible, provided candidates are interested in a career in engineering consultancy within the building services industry.

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the Scholarship:

  • Domestic student (Australian or New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident, Permanent Humanitarian visa)
  • Enrolled (a minimum 50 credits per semester) in the second, third, fourth or fifth year of an eligible course at Curtin University in Semester 1, 2026.
  • Minimum course weighted average (CWA) of 55.
  • Low socio-economic background and demonstrated financial hardship.
  • Not be in receipt of any other scholarship that are from the same funding source and/or for the same purpose.

Application process

Step 1: Access application form

  • Application form can be accessed via the ‘My Studies’ tab in OASIS or via the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page
  • Please note that this link will direct you to the general "Equity Scholarship Program" application form. Once you submit your application, you will then be considered for all equity scholarships that you are eligible for in this round.
  • If you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student and would like to be considered for all scholarships (equity and merit) available in this round, we recommend that you apply for the "Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship Program".

Step 2: Complete

  • Complete the application form online
  • Application form can be saved at any point of the process
  • Tips on how to complete your application can be found on the ‘Applying for scholarships’ link on the scholarships website

Step 3: Submit

  • Closing date is listed at the top of the page and within the Scholarships Channel on OASIS
  • Incomplete applications will not be assessed
  • Once submitted, application status will change to submitted

Step 4: Receipt

  • Application receipt will be sent to student email once application has been submitted

Step 5: Assessment

  • Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
    • Responses to questions in application form
      • Socio-economic background
      • Financial situation
      • Special considerations (e.g. life challenges such as caring for a family member or medical conditions)
    • Passion and vision for a career in the field of engineering consultancy within the building services industry
    • Interview performance (for shortlisted applicants)
    • * Preference will be given to the following applicants who are (in order):
  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
  • LGBTQIA+

Step 6: Shortlist for Interview

  • If you are eligible for a scholarship with an interview component, the scholarship office may contact you regarding an interview:
    • Shortlisted applicants will be sent an interview date and time via their student email in late March - mid-April)
    • Shortlisted applicants must be available for designated interview time (early April to mid-April)

Step 7: Outcome

  • All successful and unsuccessful applicants notified of their outcome via the Scholarships Channel (Student OASIS) within 9 weeks of the scholarship closing date

Step 8: Acceptance

  • Successful applicants must accept the terms and conditions via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS) by the lapse date.

Please note:

  • Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient need.
     

Enrolment Requirements

Recipients must meet all of the following:

  • Remain enrolled in the eligible course of study
  • Maintain enrolment of at least 50 credits each semester at Curtin University
  • Maintain a course weighted average (CWA) of at least 55 each semester
  • Pass all units attempted each semester

Holding more than one industry scholarship

Students may apply for as many scholarships as they are eligible for, and if successful, will be awarded the highest value scholarship. If students are successful in receiving an offer for more than one scholarship valued the same, they will have the opportunity to select their preferred scholarship.
