About this scholarship

The Kwok and Yang Families Scholarship (the Scholarship) was established to support high-performing international students who are in need of extra support. The Donors understand the challenges faced by international students, having experienced moving to Australia to complete university studies themselves. They wish to support students that are academically high-performing but may require some additional financial support to relieve pressures.

The Scholarship will provide the following support:  

  • A one-off cash payment of $2,500. The amount can be used at the recipient's discretion to contribute towards accommodation, basic needs or education related expenses. 

Scholarship Details

All Curtin undergraduate courses, including honours

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the Scholarship:

  • International student
  • Have a minimum course weighted average (CWA) of 70
  • Enrolled in full-time (100 credits) in semester 1, 2026
  • Have completed a minimum of 200 credits at a Curtin campus in Western Australia*
  • Be studying at a Curtin University campus in Western Australia
  • In financial need (financial situation has changed since accepting their course offer)

Note:

*Any CRL received for the current course of study will not be considered as a part of the minimum credit completion requirement. 

Application process

Step 1: Access application form

  • Applications are to be submitted using the online application form. Access the form by clicking on the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page

Step 2: Complete

  • Complete the application form online
  • Application form can be saved at any point of the process
  • Multiple scholarships can be applied for at one time
  • Tips on how to complete your application can be found on the ‘Applying for scholarships’ page on the scholarships website

Step 3: Submit

  • Closing date is listed at the top of the page and within the Scholarships Channel on OASIS
  • Incomplete applications will not be assessed
  • Once submitted, application status will change to submitted

Step 4: Receipt

  • Application receipt will be sent to student email once application has been submitted

Step 5: Assessment

  • Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
  • Responses to questions in application form
  • Current course weighted average (CWA)
  • Financial need

Step 6: Outcome

  • All successful and unsuccessful applicants notified of their outcome via the Scholarships Channel (Student OASIS) within 9 weeks of the scholarship closing date

Step 7: Acceptance

  • Successful applicants must accept the terms and conditions via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS) by the deadline

  • Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient merit and need
