About this scholarship
This Nimy-Trailblazer MPhil Scholarship in Gallium Processing (Scholarship) is available for an outstanding candidate to contribute to the development of a novel metallurgical process for the recovery of gallium. The project aims to establish technically and economically viable processing pathway for gallium-bearing ores through mineral characterisation, beneficiation and hydrometallurgical extraction.
The successful candidate will work closely with industry and academic partners as part of a collaborative critical minerals research project supported by Nimy Resources and the Resources Technology and Critical Minerals Trailblazer.

The Scholarship will provide the following support:
- A living stipend of AUD40,000 per annum, funded through the scholarship, as administered by Curtin University.
Scholarship Details
- Master of Philosophy
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the Scholarship:
- All citizenship types
- Meet the admission requirements for the Master of Philosophy (MPhil) program at Curtin University and enrol full-time
- Hold a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), Bachelor of Science (Honours), or an equivalent qualification in Metallurgical Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or a closely related discipline
- Demonstrate a strong aptitude for scientific research through peer-reviewed publications, an honours thesis, research project outcomes or outstanding academic performance
- Possess excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare technical reports and present research findings
- Demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research team
- Exhibit strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to meet project milestones and deadlines
- Provide the contact details of at least two academic referees and/or previous supervisors who can comment on the applicant's academic performance and research potential
- Be able to reside in Kalgoorlie for the duration of the scholarship

- Academic transcripts;
- A brief cover letter outlining their interest in the scholarship and demonstrating how their skills, qualifications and experience align with the project requirements; and
- Contact details for at least two academic referees and/or previous supervisors.
Enrolment Requirements
- The successful applicant will be required to reside in Kalgoorlie, Western Australia, for the duration of the scholarship
- As the project involves extensive laboratory-based experiments, the candidate is expected to be based at Curtin University's Kalgoorlie campus throughout the course of their studies
Changes to Enrolment
- The scholarship is available to full-time students only and the recipient must maintain full-time enrolment for the duration of the scholarship
