About this scholarship
The David Burgwyn Legacy Scholarship (Scholarship) has been developed to support high-potential engineering students at Curtin University who demonstrate academic merit, leadership potential, and a commitment to careers in engineering and technical disciplines critical to Australia’s future.
The David Burgwyn Legacy Scholarship has been established to honour the legacy of David Burgwyn and to support high potential students commencing undergraduate engineering studies at Curtin University. The scholarship is proudly supported by Technical Resources Pty Ltd, an Australian owned and managed engineering recruitment consultancy with a long-standing commitment to the engineering profession and to developing the next generation of industry leaders.
Through this scholarship, Technical Resources seeks to recognise students who demonstrate strong academic merit, leadership potential, and a genuine commitment to pursuing a career in engineering disciplines critical to Australia’s future. Technical Resources specialises in placing professionals across all engineering and technical disciplines, including engineering and drafting, construction management, project services and controls, safety and environment, and corporate and project administration. The company works closely with industry to support major projects across Western Australia and nationally.

The Scholarship will provide the following support for up to a maximum of 4 years for a single degree or 5 years for a double degree (based on a full-time study load of 100 credits):
- A total value of up to $40,000 for a single degree or $50,000 for a double degree, paid as a cash stipend of $5,000 per semester.
The amount can be used at the recipient's discretion to contribute towards educational related expenses.
Scholarship Details
Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)
Double degrees considered
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the Scholarship:
- Domestic student (Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, Australian permanent humanitarian or New Zealand citizen)
- Receive an eligible course offer and will enrol full-time (100 credits per study period) into the eligible course at Curtin University in Semester 1, 2027
- Achieve/Have an ATAR of 80 or above
Application process
Step 1: Access online application form
- Application form can be accessed via the ‘My Studies’ tab in OASIS or via the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page
- Please create a new scholarship account so you can lodge your scholarship application as a future student.
- If you already have your Curtin student ID with your previous course or with your course offer, please do not use your Curtin student ID for this scholarship application and create a future student account for this application.
- If you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student and would like to be considered for all other scholarships (equity and merit scholarships) available in this round, we recommend that you apply for the "Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship Program".
Step 2: Complete
- Complete the application form online
- Application form can be saved at any point of the process

Step 3: Submit
- Closing date is listed at the top of the page
- Incomplete applications will not be assessed
- Once submitted, application status will change to submitted
Step 4: Receipt
- Application receipt will be sent to the email address provided when you created your Curtin account, once your application has been submitted
Step 5: Assessment
- Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
- Receipt of an offer of a place into an eligible degree at Curtin University in 2027
- Responses to questions in application form
- Academic merit
- Demonstrated barriers to education (life or financial challenges)
- Preference given to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants
Step 6: Outcome
- Outcome will be sent via the email address listed through TISC or your direct Curtin course application after main round course offers (all successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified)
Step 7: Acceptance
- Successful applicants must accept by the deadline specified in the offer
- Deferral of this scholarship is not permitted

- Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient merit
Enrolment Requirements
Recipients must meet all of the following:
- Remain enrolled in initial course of study
- Maintain a full-time enrolment of 100 credits per semester at Curtin University
- Pass all units attempted each study period
- Not in receipt of any other scholarships that are from the same funding source and/or for the same purpose
