The Association’s Western Australia to Texas Graduate Education Scholarship (Scholarship) supports American and Australian individuals undertaking or planning to undertake full-time Graduate level study (Masters, Ph.D. or Postdoctoral Research) at an accredited institution.

• Australian candidates must have completed a minimum of undergraduate study at a Western Australian university and be planning to undertake further studies in Texas;
• American candidates must have completed a minimum of undergraduate study at a Texan university and be planning to undertake further studies in Western Australia.

The scholarship seeks to fund projects and people that advance strategic, bilateral outcomes between Australia and the United States; work that strengthens policy, research, or educational ties and has the potential to shift the dial - i.e., produce measurable, durable change in understanding, policy, practice, or relationships across the two countries.

The Scholarship will provide the following support:

• Up to USD $40,000

Awarded funds may be used towards tuition, living, travel, and other associated educational costs.

Applicants must be undertaking or intending to undertake graduate-level study or research (Master's, PhD or Postdoctoral Research).

 Study or research must be in one of the following priority fields:

• Biotechnology, Life Sciences and Medical Research
• Critical Minerals and Resource Security
• Defence and Defence Technology
• Engineering
• Geopolitics and National Security
• Space
• Strategic Industry Integration

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the Scholarship for the Australia to USA direction:

• Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident (dual AU/US citizens/residents are ineligible);
• Must have, or be in the process of obtaining, a formal letter of offer from an accredited institution, program, or course in Texas at the time of application;
• Must be conducting research or studying within the fields supported;
• Must be studying at the Graduate-level or above (Masters, Ph.D. or Postdoctoral Research);
• At the point of round closure, the proposed program, research, or project must have a minimum of one year remaining.

Application Requirements

• High-resolution headshot & in-action study field shot (min 1MB, 300 DPI); 
• Video presentation (max 1 minute – introducing yourself & your planned research/study abroad); 
• Passport biographic page from Australia
• Offer or acceptance letter from your host university or research supervisor, confirming your placement; 
• Academic transcripts for Graduate and/or Undergraduate study; 
• Letters of Recommendation; 
• Resume (please reduce to 1-page), and; 
• Detailed budget outlining expenses and income throughout the year of supported study - please use the Graduate Education Scholarships Budget Template, available to download in the application portal.
