About this scholarship
The Curtin STAR Scholarship (Scholarship) has been developed to support students who may otherwise not have an opportunity to attend university due to a low socio-economic background and financial hardship.

The Scholarship will provide the following support for the expected duration of the undergraduate degree (based on a full-time study load of 100 credits per semester):
- A cash stipend ranging between $500 and $1,500 per semester.
The amount can be used at the recipient's discretion to contribute towards educational related expenses.
Scholarship Details
All undergraduate degrees
Applicants must meet all the following criteria to be considered eligible for the Curtin STAR Scholarship:
- Domestic student (Australian or New Zealand citizen, Australian permanent resident, Permanent Humanitarian visa).
- Selected Curtin University as a first or second preference preference through TISC, or apply direct to Curtin by the scholarship’s closing date to undertake an eligible degree and major in Semester 1, 2027.
- Receive an eligible course offer and will enrol in a minimum of 25 credit points, in the eligible course at Curtin University in Semester 1, 2027.
- Low socio-economic background (ascertained from answers on application form).
- Experiencing financial hardship (ascertained from answers on application form).
Application process
Step 1: Access online application form
- Applications are to be submitted using the online application form. Access the form by clicking on the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page
- Please note that this link will direct you to the general "Equity Scholarship Program" application form. Once you submit your application, you will then be considered for all equity scholarships that you are eligible for in this round.
- Please create a new scholarship account so you can lodge your scholarship application as a future student.
- If you already have your Curtin student ID with your previous course or with your course offer, please do not use your Curtin student ID for this scholarship application.
- Please create a new scholarship account so you can lodge your scholarship application as a future student.
- If you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student and would like to be considered for all other scholarships (equity and merit scholarships) available in this round, we recommend that you apply for the "Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship Program".
Step 2: Complete
- Complete the application form online
- Application form can be saved at any point of the process

Step 3: Submit
- Closing date is listed at the top of the page
- Incomplete applications will not be assessed
- Once submitted, application status will change to submitted
Step 4: Receipt
- Application receipt will be sent to the email address provided when you created your Curtin account, once your application has been submitted
Step 5: Assessment
- Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
- Receipt of an offer of a place into an undergraduate degree at Curtin University in Semester 1, 2027.
- Responses to questions in application form
- Demonstration of financial hardship
- Socioeconomic background
- Preferences may be given to:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
- Students from a low SES background
Step 6: Outcome
- Outcome will be sent via the email address listed through TISC or your direct Curtin course application after main round course offers (all successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified)
- Students cannot receive more than one offer of a scholarship if they are from the same funding source or for the same purpose.
Step 7: Acceptance
- Successful applicants (including those who wish to defer their studies) must accept by the deadline specified in the offer
- Deferral of this scholarship is permitted for up to 12 months (details included in scholarship terms and conditions)

- Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient need
Enrolment Requirements
Recipients must meet all of the following:
- Maintain an enrolment (minimum 25 credits) each study period at Curtin University
- Maintain a course weighted average (CWA) of at least 50
