About this scholarship

The Equity Scholarship Program (Program) has been developed to support students who are experiencing financial hardship, come from a disadvantaged background and/or identify as being in an equity group by providing this one application to assess and inform students of any equity based scholarships they may be eligible for. 

This Program provides a single gateway for students in need to apply for all equity base scholarships currently on offer at Curtin.

There are many scholarships available in 2027 with varying benefits. Some scholarships provide cash payments (one-off and continuing), others provide support for fees or potential site visit and vacation work opportunities.

For successful applicants, the value of the scholarship they have been awarded will be listed within the scholarship terms and conditions.

Below is a list of scholarships for consideration within the 2027 - Semester 1 - Equity Scholarship Program (Future Students):

Scholarship Details

All enabling courses, undergraduate and postgraduate coursework degrees

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the Equity Scholarship Program:

  • Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, Australian permanent humanitarian visa holders or New Zealand citizen
  • Receive an eligible course offer and will into the eligible course at Curtin University in Semester 1, 2027
  • Low socio-economic background and/or demonstrated financial hardship

Please note: 

  • OUA students are eligible to apply, however they must be enrolled in a full award course at Curtin University. Students enrolled in units (non-award) through OUA are not eligible to apply.

Other eligibility criteria will vary according to the scholarship. The Scholarships team will assess and match you to all scholarships you are eligible for. If you are successful for more than one scholarship, you will be awarded the highest value scholarship. In some cases, you may have the opportunity to select your preferred scholarship.

Application process

Step 1: Access online application form

  • Applications are to be submitted using the online application form. Access the form by clicking on the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page
  • Please note that this link will direct you to the general "Equity Scholarship Program" application form. Once you submit your application, you will then be considered for all equity scholarships that you are eligible for in this round.
    • Please create a new scholarship account so you can lodge your scholarship application as a future student.
      • If you already have your Curtin student ID with your previous course or with your course offer, please do not use your Curtin student ID for this scholarship application.
  • If you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student and would like to be considered for all other scholarships (equity and merit scholarships) available in this round, we recommend that you apply for the "Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship Program".

Step 2: Complete

  • Complete the application form online
  • Application form can be saved at any point of the process
  • Tips on how to complete your application can be found under the Applying for scholarships link on the scholarships website

Step 3: Submit

  • Closing date is listed at the top of the page
  • Incomplete applications will not be assessed
  • Once submitted, application status will change to submitted

Step 4: Receipt

  • Application receipt will be sent to the email address provided when you created your Curtin account, once your application has been submitted

Step 5: Assessment

  • Applications will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
    • Responses to questions in application form
    • Financial hardship and socioeconomic status
    • Any other factors that may affect your finance and/or ability to study
    • If you are eligible for certain scholarships, the Scholarships Office may ask you to supply further information or supporting documents

Step 6: Shortlist for Interview (Only applies if an interview is required)

If you are eligible for a scholarship with an interview component, the Scholarships Office may contact you regarding the interview:

  • Shortlisted applicants will be contacted and sent an interview date and time in late November 2026
  • Shortlisted applicants must be available for the designated interview time, if an interview is required (8th - 11th December 2026)

Step 7: Outcome

  • Outcome will be sent via the email address listed through TISC or your direct Curtin course application after main round course offers (all successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified)

Step 8: Acceptance

  • Successful applicants (including those who wish to defer their studies) must return acceptance documents by the deadline specified in the terms and conditions

Please note:

  • Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient need

Enrolment Requirements

Recipients must meet all of the following:

  • Maintain enrolment each study period at Curtin University
  • Maintain a Course Weighted Average (CWA) of at least 50 each study period

Note:

  • Requirements vary for each scholarship. If you are eligible for a particular scholarship, the Scholarships Office will direct you to the enrolment requirements for that particular scholarship.
