About this scholarship

The Fieldwork Bursary has been developed by Curtin University to encourage and support students who are completing compulsory fieldwork/practicum as a part of their degree.

The Fieldwork Bursary will provide the following support (based on full-time enrolment of 100 credits):

  • A one-off cash payment between $500-$1,500. The amount can be used at the recipient's discretion to contribute towards fieldwork related expenses.

Scholarship Details

All fee-paying undergraduate certificates, undergraduate and postgraduate coursework degrees.

Applicants must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible to apply for the Fieldwork Bursary:

  • Australian or New Zealand citizen, Australian Permanent Resident, Australian Permanent Humanitarian Visa holder
  • Enrolled full-time or part-time in an undergraduate, postgraduate coursework degree or fee-paying undergraduate certificates, at Curtin University in semester 1, 2024
  • Minimum course weighted average (CWA) of 50 (if applicable)
  • Completing compulsory fieldwork/practicum as a part of the course in semester 1, 2024
  • Or completed in semester 2 of 2023, and have not previously received the bursary for the same placement
  • Experiencing financial hardship and demonstrated low socioeconomic background

Please note:
OUA students are eligible to apply, however must be enrolled in a full award course. Students enrolled in single subjects (non-award) are not eligible to apply.

Students enrolled in OUA are eligible to apply for fieldwork undertaken during semester 1 dates for SP1 and/or SP2 

 

Application process

Step 1: Access application form

  • Application form can be accessed via the ‘My Studies’ tab in OASIS or via the ‘Apply Online’ button on the top right-hand side of this page
  • Please note that this link will direct you to the general "Equity Scholarship Program" application form. Once you submit your application, you will then be considered for all scholarships that you are eligible for in this round.
  • If you are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student and would like to be considered for all other scholarships (both equity as well as merit scholarships) available in this round, we recommend that you apply for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scholarship Program here (only one application form to complete).

Step 2: Complete

  • Complete the application form online
  • Application form can be saved at any point of the process
  • Tips on how to complete your application can be found on the ‘Applying for scholarships’ link on the scholarships website

Step 3: Submit

  • Closing date is listed at the top of the page and within the Scholarships Channel on OASIS
  • Incomplete applications will not be assessed
  • Once submitted, application status will change to submitted

Step 4: Receipt

  • Application receipt will be sent to student email once application has been submitted

Step 5: Assessment

  • Applications for the Fieldwork Bursary will be assessed by an assessment panel using the following criteria:
    • Responses to questions in application form
    • Socioeconomic status
    • Financial situation
    • Details relating to fieldwork/practicum

Step 6: Outcome

  • All successful and unsuccessful applicants notified of their outcome via the Scholarships Channel (Student OASIS) within 6-8 weeks of the scholarship closing date

Step 7: Acceptance

  • Successful applicants must accept the terms and conditions via the Scholarship Channel (Student OASIS) by the deadline

Please note:

  • Scholarship will be awarded if there are applicants of sufficient need

Enrolment Requirements

Recipients must meet all of the following:

  • Remain enrolled throughout semester 1, 2024

Fieldwork Definition

Any approved practical work, teaching, study or research activity, usually conducted outside the normal place of University business, required by the University as an integral part of the course (as outlined by Curtin)
